Radio Tracking Insects Sign In or Register to add photos

These photos show some of the insects we have been radio tracking with micro-transmitters. The transmitters weigh about 0.25 grams and run off of the smallest watch battery available. They emit a beep every few seconds that can be picked up with a special receiver from as far away as 1\4 mile, sometimes more. With the miniturazation of transmitters we can track the movements of individual insects. It is so cool!
